<Highlights>
Inbal's Shostakovich Symphony No. 13 has overcome two cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will be performed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the composer's death. The text, which seems to denounce not only the Nazi genocide of the Jews but also the anti-Semitism and oppression in Imperial Russia and the Soviet Union, is combined with skillful orchestration to create a unique and terrifying symphony sung with inner anger and irony, which is the true essence of Shostakovich and in a sense could be called his greatest masterpiece. This is the culmination of Shostakovich's work by Inbal and the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, featuring Grigory Shkarpa, a Russian bass singer whom Inbal also trusts, and the prestigious Estonian National Male Choir. Japanese subtitles are included.
